The Make in India Story

The MEIL is dedicated to implementing the ‘Make in India’ policy through design, engineering, and infrastructure innovation. Its plants manufacture various engineering equipment and tools used in ambitious projects in different sectors.
The plants established on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Telangana, design and manufacture heavy pipes, machine tools and engineering machinery required in various projects adhering to global standards.

Pressure vessel division

The Pressure Vessel Division provides fabrication material for all the MEIL projects. The surge protective equipment manufactured here has PSLC and QRDA patents. In addition, it manufactures pressure vessels according to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards and this division is accorded with the “U” stamp.

Special features

The plant manufactures and develops products for the oil and gas sector. Delivering quality products on time and customer satisfaction is its motto. In addition, it implements the latest technology and provides training for the workforce. It is committed to the ASME code requirements and other international standards.

Heavy pumps & cranes maker

Located in Hyderabad and established in 2018, this plant manufactures large castings and fabricated equipment for heavy pumping machines and accessories used in massive irrigation projects such as the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).
It can fabricate heavy equipment like cranes and facilitates welding processes. The plant has Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL) and Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines and can manufacture equipment for rigs and pump houses. The plant is certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001: 2015 and is gearing up to get API certification.

Megha Fiber Glass Industries Limited (MFGIL)

Megha Fiber Glass Industries Limited (MFGIL), established in 2008, is a subsidiary of the MEIL. It is a leader in Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester (GRP) systems and GRP technology services. The GRP pipes manufactured in this plant are lightweight and corrosion-resistant and meet the ISO standards.

The MFGIL is the first company in South India to manufacture GRP pipes on CFW (Continuous Filament Winding Technology) machines. The plant produces world-class GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) pipes and fittings. During manufacturing, the filament is wound at a helix angle giving more mechanical strength to the pipes. The complete production process is controlled through a state-of-the-art SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system.
So far, the plant has manufactured about 2,000 tonnes of pipes and fittings. The plant can produce about 150-km of pipes per annum. These high-quality, long-lasting pipes are used in drinking, irrigation, water supply projects and hydropower plants. They are also used for industrial purposes, gas piping, as casing for wells, during fire hazards and floodwater flows.

GRP Pipes Division

The Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) pipes division falls within the scope of the MFGIL. The plant manufactures pipes and fittings on Continuous Filament Winding (CFW) machines. Pipes ranging from 300 mm to 2,600-mm-diameter are made in compliance with international quality standards. It can produce 300 km of GRP pipes per year.

Spiral Mill Division

The Spiral Mill Division was established and commissioned in October 2008. Within six months of beginning its operations, the plant achieved the American Petroleum Institute (API) monogram certification.

This plant manufactures welded pipes that are spiral-shaped and HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) pipes. In 2019-20, the plant produced 1,12,434 tons of MS (Mild Steel), HDPE, and MDPE (Medium-density Polyethylene) pipes and structures and supplied them to various projects. Currently, there are nine HDPE production divisions, including four new divisions.

The HDPE pipes are 6 mm to 25 mm thick and 400 mm to 3,000 mm in diameter, and the plant’s production capacity is 1,50,000 metric tonnes per year. It is a state-of-the-art facility with sound technical expertise and minimum wastage. Companies such as Jaewon Industrial Machinery Company Limited of South Korea and SHHM of China provide technical assistance and equipment to the Spiral Mill. In addition, a few other companies from Germany, Singapore, and France also offered equipment and technology.

 3 LPE Coating Division

This three-layer polyethylene coating facility in the Spiral Mill Division can coat pipes ranging from 18 inches to 100 inches in diameter. The process keeps the pipes from corroding, entending their durability. The company sources the required raw materials from leading suppliers.
